Narrative history
  R115841 Flight Sergeant (No. 420 Snowy Owl Squadron RCAF wireless air gunner) James Charles (Jamie) Nicol (b.1917) of Spruce Home was KIA 19430601 and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial near London, England, for airmen from the north European theatre who died with no known grave. Nicol's Wellington was lost in transit from Portreath, Cornwall, to Ras el Ma, Algeria. He was the only son of John Charles and Etta Blanche (Acorn) Nicol who came from Liverpool, Merseyside, and Prince Edward Island respectively to farm, and later retired to Prince Albert. Jamie was born at Prince Albert, educated at Centeville school and was farming when he enlisted at Saskatoon in 1941.
