Bill Barry
Bill Barry sadly passed away in October 2015. He was one of those rare and unique individuals that every committee wishes that they had somebody who was like that. Bill’s world was one of “names, facts and cross checking”. He spent years trying to track down and verify every last name of an individual who had lived in Saskatchewan at sometime in their life and who had made the supreme sacrifice while in uniform. Given that over 11,000 of names dated from a era before there were computers, it meant checking church and town records; enlistment and discharge documents and sifting through countless oral narrations so to separate fact from imagination. Bill’s records were the most accurate and complete of any individual or group in the Province of Saskatchewan. His contribution was magnificent and he will be sorely missed.
