| L53775 Private (Lake Superior Regiment) Nelson Alexander Carswell (b.1919) of Harris was KIA 19441208 in the Nijmegen salient and is buried at Groesbeek Canadian war cemetery near Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands. He was the son of Alex and Lillian Carswell who came from Matachewan, Timiskaming district, Ontario, to the Ardath district, where Nelson was born. The family moved to a farm northwest of Harris in 1922. Nelson farmed and did odd jobs before enlisting at Saskatoon in 1941. |
