Narrative history
  77448 Private (15th Battalion, Central Ontario Regiment) Herbert Grainger (b.1891) of Keating, British Columbia, was KIA 19150519 and is buried at Guards cemetery, Cuinchy east of Béthune, Pas-de-Calais, France. He was the son of Joseph Alexander and Ida McKague Grainger who homesteaded W6-44-18-W2 south of Melfort before moving to Vancouver Island (they later returned to Saskatchewan and farmed in the Craigie district near McKague). Herbert was born at Prince Albert and was working as a carpenter when he enlisted at Victoria late in 1914.
