The Hugh Cairns memorial was erected in 1921 in the Kiwanis Park at the western foot of the University or 25th Street Bridge in Saskatoon (coordinates: 52°7’56″N 106°39’7″W). The October 1920 issue of The Daily Star ran an article about the arrival of the six foot high marble statue carved in Italy. This statue of footballer Hugh Cairns stands atop a twelve foot high granite base upon which are the names of Saskatoon football players who fell in the Great War. The dedication service was held June 8, 1921.
