| J35924 Flying Officer (No. 408 Goose Squadron RCAF navigator) Donald Anderson Staples (b.1919) of Regina was KIA 19441102 and is buried at Leopoldsburg war cemetery northeast of Leuven, Limburg, Belgium. Staples' Halifax was shot down at Fosses during a night raid on Dusseldorf, Germany. He was the son of John Thomas, a barber, and Jean Murray (Slater) Staples, both Ontarians. Donald attended Albert school and Scott collegiate and was a cashier and mortgage clerk for Huron & Erie when he enlisted at Regina in 1942. |
