Narrative history
  B61456 Trooper (1st Hussars) Lee Irwin Preston (b.1913) of Val-d'Or, MRC de Vallée-de-l'Or, Québec, was KIA 19440611 and is buried at Bény-sur-Mer Canadian war cemetery near Reviers, Calvados, France. Preston's Sherman tank was set ablaze and he was taken prisoner near Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse. He was among the 17 unarmed Saskatchewan POWs executed in cold blood by the 12th SS Panzer Division, see the note on The Hitler Youth following DT Moloney in Age Shall Not Weary Them. Lee was born at Greenway, Manitoba, and was working as a miner near Val-d'Or when he travelled to Toronto, Ontario, to enlist in 1941.

Brother of DP Preston. They were the only sons of John Roy and Maude Carrie (Irwin) Preston who came from Belt, Cascade Co., Montana, to homestead NW30-14-26-W3 east of Golden Prairie in 1912.
