Narrative history
  J14874 Flying Officer (No. 420 Snowy Owl Squadron RCAF pilot) Arthur Bebbington Long (b.1920) of Saskatoon was KIA 19430815 and is commemorated on the Malta Memorial, Valetta, for airmen from the Mediterranean theatre who died with no known grave. Long's Wellington failed to return from night operations over Sicily. He was the son of John, a banker, and Selina Marion (Ridley) Long and left a wife Marie (Carmichael) at Ottawa. Arthur was born at Granum, Alberta, attended Langham school, graduated from City Park collegiate and studied accounting at the University of Saskatchewan 1939-40. He worked for a few months as a bookkeeper for Toronto General Trusts before enlisting at Saskatoon early in 1941.
