Narrative history
  R284667 Sergeant (RCAF wireless air gunner) Henry Loewen (b.1924) of Rokeby died 19441030 and is buried at Yorkton cemetery. Loewen's Anson crashed at No. 5 Bombing & Gunnery School, Dafoe, in the fog after a night training exercise. He was the son of Jacob Gerhard and Agneta (Harmes) Loewen who were among the last of the Mennonites to escape from the Soviet Union in the late 1920s. Henry was born at Voronezh, Russia, attended Pebble Lake school and was farming with his family when he enlisted at Regina on Remembrance Day 1943.
