Narrative history
  R181754 Leading Aircraftman (RCAF aero engine mechanic) David Earl Kitchener Lewis (b.1915) of Swift Current died 19450419 and is buried at Manitou communal cemetery, Manitoba, near his wife Elsie Marie (Anning)'s home. Lewis died from the effects of anaesthesia in the camp hospital at No. 17 Service Flying Training School, Souris, while being operated on for severe blood poisoning in an old wound on his hand. David Jr. spent over a year at the University of Manitoba and was working for PFRA at the Swift Current experimental station for three years before enlisting at Regina in 1942.

His brother 644842 Leading Aircraftman (No. 40 Squadron RAF) James Frederick Byng Lewis of Morden died 19400414 and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial near London, England, for airmen with no known grave. James Lewis Bay on Bolton Lake, Manitoba (53L4), has been named in his honour.

They were the sons of David Llewellyn and Margaret (Johnston) Lewis of Morden.
