| R87497 Sergeant (No. 158 Squadron RAF pilot) Joseph Edward Robert Lavigne (b.1922) of Melfort was KIA 19430109 and is buried at Fourfelt cemetery, Esbjerg, Jutland, Denmark. Lavigne's Halifax took off on operations and was never heard from again. Joseph was working as a hardware clerk for the Melfort Co-op when he enlisted at Saskatoon early in 1941.
Brother of H Lavigne. They were the sons of August and Isabelle (Gaddy) Lavigne who homesteaded SE14-48-18-W3 northeast of Vawn. Both were born at Edam and educated at Melfort. The Lavigne No. 2324 school a mile south of their parents' homestead was named for their grandfather Amédé. |
