Narrative history
  J11579 Flight Lieutenant (No. 401 Ram Squadron RCAF pilot) Robert James (Bob) Land (b.1918) of Luseland was KIA 19450114 and is buried at Oldenzaal Roman Catholic cemetery, Overijssel, Netherlands. Land's Spitfire was last seen engaging with an enemy fighter over Twente. He was the son of Frederick George Land who came from England to ranch southwest of Empress, Alberta, in 1909; his mother Gertrude Ethel (Chidzey) followed in 1917. The family moved to a farm near Luseland in 1926 and Bob attended Heiland school and farmed before enlisting at Saskatoon in 1941. He married Josephine Kathryn (Gerlinsky) at Luseland early the next year, she and their daughter Carole Jean later lived at Kerrobert.
