Narrative history
  J22096 Flying Officer (No. 12 Squadron RAF bomb aimer) Carl William Kruger (b.1916) of Fort San was KIA 19440331 and is buried at Hanover war cemetery, Harrenburg, Germany. Kruger was on his 33rd mission when his Lancaster was shot down during a night raid on Nuremberg, one of 108 Allied aircraft lost that night. He was the son of Henry and Agatha (Olfert) Kruger who came from Ukraine. Carl was born at Vegreville, Alberta, educated at Dysart and Regina and farmed in the Hyde district south of Lemberg. He worked for a year as an orderly at Fort San before enlisting at Regina in 1941. Three weeks before enlisting he married Violet Matilda (Holmes) of Kelliher, she and their son Robert Charles were later at Winnipeg, Manitoba.
