Narrative history
  B87428 Private (Royal Canadian Army Service Corps) Mike Konopada (b.1915) of Fort Pelly died 19450116 and is buried at Cesena war cemetery, Forli, Italy. Konopada was driving a water truck from Villa Maria to Cervia when he swerved to miss an oxcart, skidded on the icy road and flipped the vehicle in the ditch. He died five days later of his injuries, although his two passengers survived unscathed. He was the son of Alex and Irene Konopada who homesteaded SW4-35-6-W2 west of Preeceville before moving to a farm south of Pelly. Mike was an itinerant labourer, bushman and miner when he enlisted at Timmins, Cochrane district, Ontario, late in 1941.
