Narrative history
  R85471 Warrant Officer 1 (No. 70 Squadron RAF pilot) (Ira) Irvin Kliman (b.1919) of Regina was KIA 19430507 and is buried at Tripoli war cemetery, Babgagaresh, Libya. Kliman's Wellington crashed and burned near Gardabia. The son of David Bertram Kliman KC, a lawyer, and Bertha Adele (Dubinsky), Irvin was a graduate of Connaught school, Central collegiate and was a student at the University of Manitoba law school when he enlisted in the Regina Rifles in 1940, transferring to the RCAF early the next year. Interestingly, Irvin contracted malaria while serving in Libya. During his recuperation at Cairo, he was able to visit Palestine on several occasions and establish personal contact with his Jewish heritage.
