Narrative history
  J19112 Pilot Officer (No. 408 Goose Squadron RCAF bomb aimer) Walter Kerslake (b.1919) of Windthorst was KIA 19431022 and is buried at Hanover war cemetery, Harrenberger, Germany. Kerslake's Lancaster was shot down at Lavelsloh during a night raid on Kassel. He was the son of George and Laura Lilly (Hawkins) Kerslake who both came from London, England, to homestead SW12-13-7-W2 south of Windthorst in 1906. They were the first couple married in Windthorst's Methodist church in 1910. George graduated from Crocus school and Windthorst and taught for a year at Carlsbad school near Turtleford before enlisting at Regina in 1941.
