Narrative history
  Lieutenant (South Saskatchewan Regiment) Edwin Robert (Ted) Kercher Jr. (b.1917) of Weyburn died 19440805 during the push to Falaise and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. Kercher, who was mentioned in despatches for heroism at Dieppe when he was a corporal, was wounded at Verrières and died the next day. He was the son of Edwin Robert and Elsie Rose Kercher who homesteaded NW32-7-18-W2 southeast of Khedive. Ted was born at Weyburn, was working as a nurse attendant at the Weyburn mental hospital when he enlisted as a private (L12030) at Weyburn before Canada declared war, and left a wife Violet at Cassidy, British Columbia.
