L53901 Trooper (6th Armoured Regiment, 1st Hussars) William George (Willie) Kato (b.1920) of Regina was KIA 19440808 in Operation Totalize during the push to Falaise and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of George and Marie Kato who came from Hungary, settling eventually at NE27-25-18-W2 in the Crosswoods district north of Southey. Willie was born at Southey and was working as a tinsmith at Regina when he enlisted there in 1941, leaving a wife Marie Rose. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
