Narrative history
  J89454 Pilot Officer (No. 514 Squadron RAF air gunner) Wallace Lawrence Granbois (b.1918) of Vancouver, British Columbia, was KIA 19440423 when his Lancaster was shot down during night operations over Dusseldorf. Wallace farmed before spending a year working at Pacific Shingles at Port Moody before enlisting at Vancouver in 1942.

And his brother R181811 Warrant Officer 2 (No. 207 Squadron RAF wireless air gunner) Maurice Emerson Granbois (b.1922) of Halbrite who was KIA 19450221 when his Lancaster went down near Bocholt during a raid on Gravenhorst. Maurice was farming with his family when he enlisted at Regina in 1942.

The boys were born and raised at Halbrite and educated at St. Elmo school and Griffin. They were the sons of Franklin Laurence and Ida (Olson) Granbois who came from Wisconsin to farm at 35-7-12-W2 (they later retired to White Rock, British Columbia). Both are buried at Reichswald Forest war cemetery near Kleve, Germany. All three of their brothers also served, Armand and Maurice in the RCAF (Armand spent three years as a POW at Stalag 357) and Coleman in the United States Army.
