| Captain (Loyal Edmonton Regiment) Thomas Patrick Gentles (b.1906) of Regina was KIA 19441017 and is buried at Cesena war cemetery, Forli, Italy. He was the son of Norman and Margaret Helen (Wallace) Gentles who came from Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, to Moose Jaw in 1913. Norman, a lawyer, rose to the rank of lieutenant-colonel of the 28th Battalion during World War I. Thomas, a civil service accountant, and his wife Marjory Mary (Carr) and son Robert Ernest were living at Regina when he enlisted there in 1940 (she later moved to Vancouver). Tommy's brother Robert Henry served with the 14th Canadian Hussars, and his son Robert was serving in the Navy when his father was killed. |
