Narrative history
  L51078 Trooper (14th Canadian Hussars driver mechanic) Henry Ewert Jr. (b.1920) of Leinan was KIA 19441008 near Hoogerheide and is buried at Schoonselhof cemetery, Antwerpen, Belgium. He was the son of Heinrich H. and Justina Ewert who came from Alexanderhof, Memrik, Ukraine, to homestead E13-31-22-W2 just north of Lockwood (his mother remarried as Mrs. Manthey). The family soon moved to Leinan north of Swift Current. Henry Jr. was driving truck when he enlisted at Swift Current in 1941. He married Iris Mary (Williams) at Bournemouth, Hampshire, England, in 1944; she later moved to Leinan and remarried as Mrs. Hartman of Belleville, Ontario, after the war. Henry's brother Jake served in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in northwestern Europe.
