R62406 Sergeant (No. 114 Hong Kong Squadron RAF air gunner) Howard Lee Elliott (b.1916) of Forgn was KIA 19411015 and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial near London, England, for airmen who died with no known grave. Elliott's Blenheim was shot down over the North Sea. He was the son of Charles Edward Elliott who came from Vasey, Simcoe Co., Ontario, to homestead NW2-27-14-W3 west of Forgan in 1907, his mother Myrtle Eugenia (Phipps) was from Owen Sound, Grey Co. The family moved to Saskatoon after a fire destroyed their home in 1926. Howard was educated at Forgan and Bedford Road collegiate where his name is inscribed on the memorial gates to the school's library. He was farming and playing hockey when he enlisted at Saskatoon in 1940. His brother James served in the Navy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
