| M65994 Sergeant (1st Canadian Special Service Battalion) Douglas Gordon Edgelow (b.1922) of Cavalier was KIA 19440815 and is buried at Mazargues war cemetery, Marseilles, Bouches-du-Rhone, France. Edgelow took part in the invasion of the Aleutian Islands, was wounded in Italy, and died in the capture of Îles d'Hyères off the south coast of France. He was the son of Gordon Humphrey and Alison Davidson (Halliday) Edgelow who came from Great Britain to farm west of Meota. Douglas was a farm labourer when he enlisted at Edmonton, Alberta, in 1941. His brother Clayton also served in the Army. |
