Narrative history
  L74440 Sapper (18 Field Co., Royal Canadian Engineers) Carl Melvin Dahl (b.1915) of Court was KIA 19440918 and is buried at Calais Canadian war cemetery, Leubringhen, Pas-de-Calais, France. He was the son of Peder Olsen and Martina Amalia Dahl, Norwegians who came to the district from Temple, North Dakota, to homestead 35-32-29-W3 on the Alberta border south of Loverna in 1913. Carl was born on the farm, attended Antelope Park school and was working as a carpenter when he enlisted at Saskatoon early in 1942. His brother Ove also served in the Army.
