Narrative history
  R98771 Warrant Officer 2 (No. 280 Squadron RAF wireless air gunner) William Vernon (Bill) Crockett (b.1922) of Ridgedale was KIA 19431113 and is buried at Stonefall cemetery, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Crockett's Warwick aircraft was returning from a successful air/sea rescue mission when it crashed near Whitby. He was the son of Louis Melbourne Crockett, a native of Carleton Point, Prince Co., Prince Edward Island, and Flora Berry (McConnell) who was born in North Dakota. His mother passed away while he was still an infant. Bill was born at Lafleche and went to Ridgedale with his grain buyer father in 1933.
