Narrative history
  J17170 Squadron Leader (No. 427 Lions Squadron RCAF pilot) Basil Glynn (Jersey) Crew DFC (b.1919) of Wawota was KIA 19450105 and is buried at Hanover war cemetery, Harrenburg, Germany. Crew's Halifax was shot down at Dudenson north of Hanover. His father Herbert Augustus (Jersey) Crew came from Gloucestershire, England, to Wawota in 1910 and operated a hotel with his mother Ethel Frances (Golding) (they later retired to New Westminster, British Columbia). Glynn graduated from Notre Dame college at Wilcox and was working at his family's hotel when he enlisted at Regina early in 1941. His Distinguished Flying Cross was presented personally by King George VI. His brother Court;and Orr Crew also served in the RCAF.

Distinguished Flying Cross citation (1944):
As captain of aircraft this officer has successfully completed a number of operational sorties. He has at all times displayed a high standard of courage and efficiency. His keenness and devotion to duty under difficult and hazardous conditions have been of a high order.
