Narrative history
J35991 Flying Officer (No. 437 Husky Squadron RCAF pilot) (Charles) Herbert Cressman (b.1916) of Geraldton, Thunder Bay district, Ontario, was KIA 19440921. Cressman's Dakota was hit by flak while dropping supply panniers over Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands. While his crew is all buried at Nijmegen, no trace of Cressman's body was ever found. His father Alvin came from Chesterfield, Oxford Co., Ontario, to homestead SW4-6-20-W2 just southwest of Ceylon in 1905, his mother Nora M. (Mottram) came from Virden, Manitoba. Herbert was born at Saskatoon and was working in the mines at Geraldton when he enlisted there in 1941. He left a wife Barbara Wilhelmina (Kaip) and two children at Minton.

The foregoing is from the Geographic Names Board file. However, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission shows Cressman interred at Uden war cemetery, Noord-Brabant, not far from Nijmegen. They Shall Grow Not Old indicates he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
