Narrative history
  R61971 Corporal (RCAF aero engine mechanic) Roy Henry Corner (b.1920) of Lac Vert died 19421212 and is buried at Gander cemetery. Corner perished in a fire at the Knights of Columbus hostel, St. John's, Newfoundland, while trying to save young ladies at a dance. He was the son of Alan R. and Dorothy (Marr) Corner who arrived from West Hartlepool, Durham, England, to homestead NW13-41-18-W2 in 1908. Roy was educated at Old Pleasantdale and Lac Vert schools and was working as a store clerk when he enlisted at Saskatoon in 1940.
