| R70810 Corporal (No. 404 Buffalo Squadron RCAF airframe mechanic) Robert Edwin (Ed) Colwell (b.1921) of Portreeve was KIA 19440707 and is buried at Stonefall cemetery, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Colwell's Beaufighter crashed at Strubby, Lincolnshire. He was the son of John Alexander and Mary (Macalister) Colwell who homesteaded SW4-23-22-W3 north of Portreeve in 1913. Ed was educated at Bakerville school, Portreeve and Moose Jaw Tech, and was farming when he enlisted at Regina in 1940. |
