| B44963 Private (Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders) Roy Walter Coffin (b.1922) of Nokomis was KIA 19450416 during the liberation of the Netherlands and is buried at Holten Canadian war cemetery, Overijssel, Netherlands. He was the son of Chester Daniel Coffin who farmed about half way between Nokomis and Simpson and moved to New Westminster, British Columbia, before the war. Roy was born at Nokomis and was raised by his step-mother Mildred Jane after the death of his mother. He farmed in the Nokomis area and worked at Kingston, Frontenac Co., Ontario, for six months before enlisting at Toronto late in 1942. |
