| J21984 Flying Officer (No. 429 Bison Squadron RCAF Halifax bomb aimer) Athanazie Chorneyko (b.1918) of Arran was KIA 19431022 over Kassel, Germany, and is buried at Schoonselhof cemetery, Antwerpen, Belgium. He was the son of Elias and Alexandra (Rubashewsky) Chorneyko who both came from Ukraine. Athanazie attended Paseika and Arran schools and was operating his own farm when he enlisted at Winnipeg late in 1941. |
