Narrative history
  J90069 Pilot Officer (No. 408 Goose Squadron RCAF bomb aimer) Lorne Francis Cassidy (b.1921) of Regina was KIA 19440729. Cassidy's Lancaster failed to return from a night raid on Hamburg and he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial just west of London, England, for airmen who died with no known grave. He was the son of John M. and Mary Elizabeth (Walsh) Cassidy who came from Ontario and later rtired to Vancouver. Lorne was born at Glenside, educated at Tisdale and Regina and was working as a farm labourer at Craik when he enlisted at Regina late in 1941.

JHA McCaffrey and RH Mitchell died on the same flight.

Cassidy had been shot down off Sweden while flying with No. 405 Squadron on 19430824. He was interned in Sweden, then exchanged for a German officer through the International Red Cross.
