Narrative history
  L36349 Trooper (South Alberta Regiment) James Charlie Carragher (b.1917) of Sturgis was KIA 19440821 by a sniper during operations to close the Falaise Gap and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of John Charles and Maud Rose (Robinson) Carragher who originally homesteaded SW18-34-5-W2 south of Preeceville before moving to a farm southeast of Endeavour where James attended Brookview school and worked as a labourer. His family moved to The Pas, Manitoba, at about the same time he enlisted in the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse at Dundurn Camp in 1940.
