| R149565 Flight Sergeant (No. 76 Squadron RAF air gunner) John Edward Cameron (b.1923) of Saskatoon was KIA 19430828 and is buried at Durnbach war cemetery east of Bad Tolz, southern Germany. Cameron's Halifax was shot down over Nuremberg. He was the son of Thomas and Moya Cameron who came from Scotland to farm; Thomas saw active service with the RCAF service police at Saint John during the war. John was born at Saskatoon, educated at Melness school southeast of the city and enlisted at Regina late in 1941. He served 21 months in the 14th Canadian Hussars before transferring to the RCAF. |
