Narrative history
  L153538 Lance Corporal (South Saskatchewan Regiment) Albert Lavern Blixrud (b.1913) of Sandwith was KIA 19440917 at Bray Dunes Plage and is buried at Coxyde military cemetery, Koksijde, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Blixrud worked on the construction of the Borden bridge and drove truck for loggers at Meadow Lake and Green Lake before enlisting at Winnipeg in 1943. He was born at Jamestown, Stutsman Co., North Dakota, and came with his family to SW21-48-15-W3 at the northeastern corner of the Moosomin reserve the next year. His father Kristian Andreasson Blixrud was born in Norway, his mother Dora (Kowitz) was a native of Hamburg, Germany, and they donated the site for the Molewood school. Two of Albert's brothers Bill and Norman also saw service in the Army.
