| L105276 Rifleman (Royal Winnipeg Rifles) George Alexander Birnie (b.1924) of Lucky Lake was KIA 19440815 in Operation Tractable during the push to Falaise and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of James and Mary Birnie who homesteaded NE32-23-7-W3 east of Lucky Lake befoe retiring to Saskatoon. George farmed iin the Tullis area before enlisting at Regina early in 1943. |
