Narrative history
  R62500 Warrant Officer 2 (No. 9 Squadron RAF wireless air gunner) Lloyd Adolph Bernick (b.1920) of Hawarden was KIA 19430226 and is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial near London, England, for airmen who died with no known grave. Bernick's Lancaster failed to return from a night mission over Nuremburg. Lloyd was the son of Harry Moritz and Elinora (Friedrick) Bernick who came to Hawarden from Iowa in 1913 and farmed at SE9-29-5-W3. Harry also bought grain at Hawarden and served as an RM councillor. Lloyd farmed with his family before enlisting at Saskatoon in 1940. His brother Ralph also served in the RCAF.
