Narrative history
  L106483 Private (Fusiliers Mont-Royal) Francis Joseph Bernard (b.1923) of Prince Albert was KIA 19440828 during the pursuit to the Seine and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of Ernest and Rose Alma Bernard. The family were members of Prince Albert's French-speaking community, hence Francis' posting to the Fusiliers Mont-Royal. Francis was born at Debden and was part of the apron crew at No. 6 Elementary Flying Training School when he enlisted at Regina in 1943.
