Narrative history
  R142048 Leading Aircraftman (RCAF airframe mechanic) John Douglas Beck (b.1919) of Mawer was KIA 19441012 as a result of enemy bombing of No. 127 Wing aerodrome and is buried at Groesbeek Canadian war cemetery near Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands. He was the son of Christian Jorgenson and Lulu Marida (Spring) Beck, Christian came from Esbjerg, Denmark, to homestead SE28-20-3-W3 southeast of Central Butte in 1906. John attended Wilson Hill school and was farming on his own when he enlisted at Regina late in 1941. He married Aletha Evelyn (Nouch) of Mawer in 1942 just before embarking for overseas duty. Two brothers Victor and Stanley also served with the RCAF.
