Narrative history
  J21182 Flying Officer (No. 428 Ghost Squadron RCAF bomb aimer) Archie Verdun Batty (b.1916) of Limerick was KIA 19441014 and is buried at Rheinberg war cemetery north of Duisberg, Germany. (According to They Shall Grow Not Old, Batty's name is also inscribed on the Runnymede Memorial.) Batty's Lancaster was shot down during a daylight raid on Duisberg. He was the son of Samuel and Agnes Jane (Maxwell) Batty who came from Toronto to NE20-7-2-W3 in 1910. Archie attended Bruce and Limerick schools and taught at Lynthorpe and Stonehenge before becoming manager of the Limerick Co-op in 1939. He enlisted at Regina early in 1942 and married Aveline Emma (Whitehouse) of Indian Head six months later.
