Narrative history
  L12629 Private (South Saskatchewan Regiment) George Henry Bassett (b.1917) of Coronach was KIA 19420819 on a bridge at Dieppe and is buried at the Dieppe Canadian war cemetery, Hautot-sur-Mer, Seine-Maritime, France. He was the son of Napier Edward and Elta Bassett who came from Minnesota to Ogema, where George was born, before moving to the Pretty Valley district in 1919 (they later moved to Oregon). George farmed before enlisting at Weyburn in 1940. Two of his brothers, Allen and Harold (Red) Bassett, also served, and Red was wounded in Normandy.
