| L104215 Lance Corporal (Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders driver mechanic) Mike Walter Basaraba (b.1922) of Shipman was KIA 19441124 at Huijbergen in the Nijmegen salient and is buried at Groesbeek Canadian war cemetery near Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands. Mike was the son of William and Maggie Basaraba who farmed in the Strong Pine district southeast of Weirdale. Mike farmed with his family and worked out in sawmills before enlisting at Regina early in 1943. |
