Narrative history
L154247 Private (Lanark & Renfrew Scottish Regiment) Miro George Bartko (b.1920) of Weekes was KIA 19441214 and is buried at Villanova Canadian war cemetery, Italy. He was the son of Dmytro and Bessie Bartko who farmed in the Dunwell district northeast of Weekes. Miro was born at Wakaw and was farming with his family and working out at sawmills when he was called up for NRMA training at Regina in 1942, transferring to regular force at Prince Rupert, British Columbia, two years later.

Note that Bartko was originally a gunner, a member of an anti-aircraft battery that was converted to infantry (not entirely happily) because the Luftwaffe had virtually disappeared from the skies late in the Italian campaign.
