| L107644 Private (Essex Scottish) William Ellis (Billie) Banyard (b.1925) of Darmody was KIA 19440729 during the push to Falaise and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of Percy William and Julia Banyard who came from England, Percy worked for CN at Eskbank-Darmody. Billie was born at Edgeley and clerked at Benson's store before enlisting at Regina late in 1943. His brothers James and Leslie both served with the Regina Rifles overseas. |
