  H63828 Gunner (5 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery) Peter Paul Bakalar (b.1922) of Melville was KIA 19440810 in Operation Totalize during the push to Falaise and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of Sam and Julia Bakalar. Peter was working as a bushman/logger when he enlisted at Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay district, Ontario, in 1941.
