| J36378 Flying Officer (No. 69 Squadron RAF navigator) Richard Gainford Askew (b.1923) of Moose Jaw was KIA 19440725 when his Wellington was downed over Lisieux and is buried at Bayeux war cemetery, Calvados, France. He was the son of Edward and Mary Agnes Askew who came from England to the Briercrest district. Richard was working as a laboratory assistant for British American Oil when he enlisted at Regina late in 1942. |
