Narrative history
  L8999 Private (69 General Transport Co., Royal Canadian Army Service Corps) Elmer Roy Andrew (b.1922) of Maymont died 19450419 during the liberation of the Netherlands and is buried at Groesbeek Canadian war cemetery near Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands. Andrew drowned accidentally in the Twente canal. His father William Ezra Andrew came from Balmoral, Manitoba, to homestead SE2-42-12-W3 east of Maymont and work at road and railway building, his mother Caroline McCurdy (Campbell) was born in the gardener's house on Alexander Graham Bell's estate at Baddeck, Cape Breton Island. Elmer farmed before enlisting at Saskatoon late in 1941 and left a wife Rosie Louisa (Jones) at Rainham, Essex, England. Two of his brothers, John and Hector, also served.
