Narrative history
J6390 Flight Lieutenant (No. 431 Iroquois Squadron RCAF pilot) Bernard Mortimer Adilman (b.1917) of Saskatoon was KIA 19450106 and is buried at Durnbach war cemetery east of Bad Tolz, southern Germany. Adilman completed his first tour flying Hampdens and Wellingtons (he survived four crash landings) and spent several months as an instructor at an operational training unit before returning to active service as a Lancaster pilot. He perished during a raid on Hanover. Bernard was born to Nathan and Beatrice Adilman at Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, and was working at the family department store when he enlisted at Saskatoon late in 1940. He was a graduate of Princess Alexandra school, Nutana collegiate and spent two years at the University of Saskatchewan. Interestingly, he appears in Canadian Jews in World War II as Birney M. Adilman.
