Narrative history
  J87795 Pilot Officer (No. 78 Squadron RAF bomb aimer) Lawrence Albert Welsh (b.1924) of Regina was KIA 19441121 and is buried at Stonefall cemetery, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Welsh was returning from a raid on Sterkrade, Germany, when his Halifax bomber ran out of fuel before reaching base at Goole and crash landed, killing Welsh and five of his crewmates. Lawrence was working as a clerk/bookkeeper at Toronto General Trust when he enlisted at Regina early in 1942.

Brother of JV Welsh. See also Welsh Lake in Geographic Names of Saskatchewan which was named for the boys' grandfather. They were the sons of William John and Clara Elizabeth (McDougall) Welsh. William was a provincial public servant after moving the family from Nokomis to Regina in 1923. Both boys were graduates of Sacred Heart school and Campion college.
