Narrative history
  J16604 Pilot Officer (No. 7 Pathfinder Squadron RAF navigator) (Elmer) Robert Vance (b.1919) of Regina was KIA 19430421 and is buried at Svino churchyard, Southern Zealand, Denmark. Vance's Stirling was shot down by two enemy fighters during a raid on Stettin, Germany, his 20th mission. He was the son of Robert Hudson and Martha Winnifred (McLean) Vance who came from Bruce Co., Ontario, to homestead SE3-20-24-W2 south of Bethune in 1904 and the Vanceborough school was named for his grandfather. Robert Jr. graduated from Balfour Tech and worked as an office clerk for Houston Willoughby before enlisting at Regina in 1941 - two years to the day before his death.
